Value of Oracy
Oracy is an entitlement and enables children's agency in finding their voice
Vital for:
- communicating ideas and expressing thoughts
- particularly for disadvantaged children (EEF research shows "oral language interventions" enable students to make an average of 5 months progress over a year)
- should have same status as Reading and Writing
- evidence shows impact on academic outcomes, cognitive development, self-esteem, civic engagement.
